East Neuk Episcopal Church Fife Scotland. Welcome to the
Episcopal Church in the East Neuk. We have two church buildings, one dedicated to St Michael's and All Angels in Elie and the other dedicated to St John the Evangelist in Pittenweem. In Pittenweem, which means, place of the cave, there survives a cave which is dedicated to the memory of St Fillan, a Celtic saint, who is reputed to have been here in the seventh century. Remains of a twelfth century monastery built by Queen Margaret are still occupied, though somewhat modified. It has been used at various times over recent generations as a residence for local clergy and other families. The East Neuk is a fascinating part of Scotland and forms part of the Kingdom of Fife. When you visit the area we hope that you will find time to seek out the churches in the area and explore something of the local history as well as the scenery, wildlife, sporting facilities, beaches, rocks and rolling countryside.
